The Behavior Pattern of Patients Suffering from Laryngeal Cancer referring to the Clinics of Imam Khomeini Hospital, 1993.
Abstract
Abstract: This is an analytic descriptive study considering the behavior pattern of patients suffering from laryngeal cancer referring to the clinics of Imam Khomeini Hospital. This study including a main goal and four special objectives about the behavior pattern of mentioned patients. 1. Consideration and determination the behavior pattern of patients per se about talking any addictive substances. 2. Consideration and determination the behavior pattern of patients about maintaining oral hygiene. 3. Consideration and determination the eating habits of patients. 4. Consideration and determination the behavior pattern of patients about the traumas being exerted to larynx. The field of this study is E.N.T chemotherapy and radiotherapy department of Imam Khomeini Hospital in Tabriz. The subjects of this study were 50 patients suffering from laryngeal cancer, whose diseases were confirmed by clinical or para-clinical tests. Data gathering process includes a questionnaire with 5 parts. First part is about demographic data, second part is about behavior pattern of patients who have addiction, third part is about maintaining oral hygiene, fourth part is about eating habits and the fifth part is about the traumas being exerted to the larynx. In order to achieve the objectives of the research, analytic –descriptive statistics have been used and results have been presented in 44 tables. Findings of this research showed that 42% of the subjects were in age group of 60-69, 80% male, 66% illiterate and of low incomes, 42% had hard jobs, 45.5% were positive A, 92% were smokers and didn't maintain oral hygiene, 38% used little vegetables and fruits and 50% had load and coarse voice. The researcher has presented recommendations on the basis of this research findings for application of the findings and further researches.
