The Effect of P.B.L Method on Nursing Students Learning Rate at Oncology Ward of Shahid Ghazi Tabatabaie Hospital, Tabriz, 1994.

Abstract
Abstract: The purpose of this study was to assess the effect of two types of learning i.e. P.B.L (Problem Based Learning) and L.B.L (Lecture Based Learning) on the clinical learning of the sixth semester Nursing Students in the Oncology ward of Shahid Ghazi Tabatabaei Hospital of Tabriz Medical University in 1994. Subjects were 48 nursing students who were randomly assigned to two groups. The control group received L.B.L and the experimental group received P.B.L instruction. Content validity reliability of data gathering instrument was approved by means of a pilot study. The demographic characteristics, knowledge, and attitude data were gathered by questionnaire, and the clinical practice data was checked and gathered through the check list. The data was analyzed with use of descriptive and the findings were presented in 24 tables. The results of this study indicated that the P.B.L method with over 99 percent reliability was effective on the knowledge, attitude, and practice of the experimental group. It has also showed that the L.B.L was effective as well with over 99 percent reliability on the knowledge, attitude, and practice of the control group. The statistical results of the comparison between the controls (L.B.L) and the experimental (P.B.L) groups indicated with over 99 percent reliability that the P.B.L was much effective on the clinical learning of the subjects than the L.B.L method. Overall three aspects of knowledge, attitude, and practice. The results of this study showed no significant correlation between the demographic characteristics (age, sex, and average) and clinical practice of experimental group.
