Assessing Communication Skills of Academic Library Managers and Its Impact on Job Motivation and Satisfaction of the Librarians under their Supervision from perspective of the Librarians

Abstract
Abstract: Introduction: High job motivation and satisfaction can improve the performance of librarians. Objective: This study investigated the effect of communication skills of university library managers on motivation and job satisfaction of librarians in East Azerbaijan province. Methods: The present study is a quantitative-descriptive and cross-sectional study. The statistical population of the study included 90 librarians from 20 universities and branches located in East Azerbaijan province. Data were collected using Payne localized questionnaire and census method. SPSS 25 and STATA 15 software were used to analyze the data. Findings: The research findings showed that the average communication skills of managers (63.90) Librarians (73/06) and was above average. The manager's communication skills had no significant effect on librarians' motivation. But there was a significant relationship between individual skills, librarian's degree and job motivation. Also between the variables of age, gender, field of study, type of library, work experience, type of employment, type of activity, years of service, incentives; There was no significant relationship between motivation. There was also a significant difference between manager communication skills, personal communication skills, librarian's field of study and type of employment on job satisfaction. But there was no difference between the variables of age, gender, degree, manager's field of study, type of library, type of work activity, years of service and encouragement and job satisfaction of librarians. Conclusion: The results of this study showed that managers' communication skills affect job satisfaction and managers in order to attract librarians to job satisfaction to facilitate the possibility of continuing education for librarians and also to convert the type of employment of librarians to formal employment. Library administrators' communication skills had no effect on librarians' motivation, and librarians' motivation was internal. Therefore, when hiring a librarian, people should be selected with motivation and hard work.
