To Study the Quality of Midwives Services for I.U.D Voluntaries in Tabriz, 1996.
Abstract
Abstract: Introduction: Family planning as a part of primary health care has an important role in improvement of social safety and women’s health. About 110 million women, most of them resident in developing countries use I.U.D for contraception.
Objective: To study the quality of Midwives services for I.U.D voluntaries in Tabriz health and medicine centers in four area; admission, education, following up, Implantation.
Design: This is a descriptive study. The way of data collection; was observation and interview. Instrument of data collection, containing 65 questions at following areas; (a) person characteristic (4 questions), (b) admission (32 questions), (c) education (12 questions) (d) following up (10 questions), (e) Implantation (11 questions).
Setting: This study was conducted in all Tabriz Health and medicine centers.
Results: The results were presented in 9 diagrams and 34 tables, suggesting that the quality of midwives services were as following; (a) 53% moderate, (b) 43% poor, (c) 3% non-acceptable.
Discussion: Findings about the each part of questionnaire were as following; about admission; 17% of midwives function were very poor, 33% were poor, 47% were moderate, and 3% were good.
About education: 23% of midwives’ function were very poor, 57% poor, and 20% moderate. About following up: 17% very poor, 43% moderate, and 40% good. About implantation; 23% poor, 57 moderate, and 10% good. The results of study suggesting that the midwives note to classic works such as implantation and following up and they are not were from counseling skills. There isn’t significant difference between characteristics and function of midwives.
Suggestion: Education of counseling skills for midwives at university and health centers is necessary.
