A Study on Sources of Stress in ED Nurses of Educational and Treatment Centers in Tabriz University of Medical Sciences, 1998.

Abstract
Abstract: Introduction: Regarding the important impact of stressors on nursing performance identification, of sources of stress will be helpful as a means to improve stress management to omit stress. Objective: It consists of one goal and five special objectives about patient care, Individual, Interpersonal, Managerial and Environmental stressors. Method: Using questionnaire prepared by investigator. This survey was carried out on all nurses working in ED (n=35) in July 1997, in order to identify stressors as perceived by nurse. This research in a descriptive study which has been performed to investigate the stressors in emergency nurses and results have been presented on 17 tables and 7 charts. Results & Discussing: Among the respondents 18(51.4%) were men. 17(48.6%) women. Mean age was 34±11.1 year and mean duration of their employment was (11.2 years), 8(22.9%) were single and 24(68.4%) were married. The finding of this study in relation to interpersonal stressors showed 45.5% of respondents with mean stress producing score X=2.29 were in third class among special objectives, and in relation to patient care stressors showed 44.7% of respondents with mean stress producing score X=2.26 were in fourth class among special objectives, and in relation to managerial stressors showed 75.2% of respondents with mean stress producing score X=2.99 were in the first class among special objectives. Also the findings of this study in relation to individual stressors showed 42.5 of respondents with mean stress producing score X=2.18 were in last class among special objectives, and in relation to environmental stressors showed 47% of respondents with mean stress producing score X=2.32 were in second class among special objectives. Recommendation: To improve condition of emergency words and to decrease amount stressors factors there is some recommendation for manager, educator and all researcher in this area.
