Predictive Value of the National Early Warning and Modified Early Warning Scores in Hospital Mortality of Patients with Suicide

The purpose of this study is to determine the predictive value of the national early warning and modified early warning scores in hospital mortality of patient with suicide attempt
Materials and methods: In a descriptive-analytic study, we included 453 patients with suicide attempts in poisoning unit and ICU poisoning unit of Sina Hospital during Dec. 2018-Sep 2019. Patients’ vital signs and level of consciousness were recorded and then analyzed by statistical methods.
Results: In this study, a total of 453 patients were studied. The Mean±SD of patients’ age was 31.82±12.28 and the mortality rate in this study was 7.7%. Based on the ROC of NEWS, area under curve and cut of point were 0.91 and 7.5, respectively (85% sensitivity and 81% specificity). The area under curve and cut of point of MEWS were 0.87 and 3.5 respectively.
