The Relationship between the Demographic Features of Employed and Unemployed Mothers with the Weight of Newborn, Tabriz, 1996.

Abstract
Abstract: Introduction & methods: Low birth- weight as one of the most important elements of the newborns death. The risk of the death of Low birth- weight is 40 percent more than the normal weight newborns. According to the recent statistic report of the world health organization, the rate of Low birth weight in Iran on 1990 was 9 percent mothers suffering from low in come and poor nutrition conditions due to the relation of these problems with other elements of having underweight newborns, are in great risk to have underweight baby. Since preventing from having an underweight newborns is one of the most important responsibilities of nursing and analytic and descriptive survey for inspecting the relations of personal social characteristics of employed and unemployed mothers with the weight of newborn at labor time has been done in Tabriz on 1375. Results: The units in this survey were 177 woman who bad a labor. Pieces of information were collected through regular interviews and filling up questionnaires. Analysation of the results with the use of descriptive and presumption statistics made it clear that: mother’s age (below 18, 10.7% over 35, and 5.1%) rate of education (31.7% high embayed mothers, and 43.6% elementary un-employed), age of first pregnancy (below 18, 32.2% of all mothers and 18-35, 6738% of all mothers) interval of the previous and last pregnancy (less than 36 months, 28.8% and 36 months or more 71.2%) Low birth weight (13.3% employed mothers and 11.11% unemployed mothers newborns) type of job (66.7% clerk and 33.3% worker) chance of resting (73.3% positive and 26.7% negative) mental strain (70% positive and 30% negative). Discussion & Conclusion: In addition the result of this survey proved some meaningful statistical relations among some of personal social characteristics such as interval of previous and recent pregnancy, previous record of Low birth weight, record of labor of premature newborn, change of rest during working hours.
