The Elder Hypertensive Patients’ Knowledge, Attitude and Practice about the Consumption of Prescribed Antihypertensive Drugs referring to Medical Clinics, Khoy Town, 1996.

Abstract
Abstract: Introduction: The present research is a descriptive study which was done in order to studying the elder Hypertensive patient’s knowledge, attitude and practice about the consumption of prescribed Antihypertensive drugs referred to Medical clinics of Khoy Town. Method & Materials: Sixty aged patients with high Blood pressure were studied as the subjects of the study. The necessary data were gathered through structured interview from consisted of the following four parts. Part 1, some information about demographic details of the above mentioned subjects. Part 2, consisted of 19 questions about the above mentioned patient’s knowledge about the consumption of prescribed drugs. Part 3, including 11 statements regarding the attitude of the subjects about the consumption of prescribed drug. Part 4, consisted of 12 question designed to assessment of subject’s practice about the consumption of prescribed drugs. Results: The findings of this research are summarized in 52 tables. In order to access to knowledge, attitude and practice of the subjects and the relation among three variables descriptive and inferential statistics such as chi-square and Pierson correlation coefficient were employed. Findings and results of the research showed that most of the patients had moderate information about the knowledge about drug consumption. There were meaningful statistical correlation between the attitude and knowledge of the subjects. The results also indicated that the elderly patients had negative attitude and incorrect practice. There were no significant correlation between the attitude and practice and also between knowledge and practice of the subjects. Finally some suggestions for future investigations were offered and the application of the results and findings in different fields of nursing were discussed.
