Abstract
Abstract: Introduction & Objective: Coronary artery disease is one of the main causes of mortality and health problems in all countries of the world. Awareness and self-efficacy and patient education can affect health-related behaviors in disease management as well as on the outcomes of the disease. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of education through the short message system on the understanding of the disease and adherence to the medication regimen in patients undergoing coronary angioplasty. Materials and Methods: In this clinical trial, 142 patients underwent coronary angioplasty, who were randomly divided into two groups: intervention (n = 72) and control (n = 72). Patients in the intervention group received training on Illness Perception and adherence to drug regimens via SMS service for 3 months at 4 am on Saturday, Monday, Wednesday, and at 10:00 am, but no control was sent to the patients in the control group. Data were collected using a demographic questionnaire, a BIPQ Illness perception questionnaire, and a Morristic drug compliance questionnaire. Then, using SPSS 21 software, descriptive statistics, linear regression and chi-square statistical tests were used to analyze the data. Results: The results of this study showed that the mean age of the patients was 61.29 years, 75% of the patients were male and 82% had undergone coronary angioplasty, 56% had high blood pressure and 39% had diabetes history. Also, variable gender segregation variables had an inverse relationship with the variables of perceived Illness and compliance with drug regimens. The results of the perceived variability of the disease and adherence to the dietary regimens also showed that there was no significant difference between the two groups in the pre-study between the perceptual variables of the disease, while in the post-study study, the overall score of the level of perceived Illness among the two The group had a significant difference (P = 0/000), Also, the results of the compliance variable of the drug regimens showed that the compliance of the drug regimens improved after the intervention in the intervention group compared to the control group (P = 0/000). Conclusion: The findings of this study showed that the education system through the SMS system on the level of perception of the Illness and adherence to the pharmacological regimens of patients under coronary angiography is significantly effective, so nurses can use this educational method in the direction Promote health and control more complications in patients undergoing coronary artery angiography.
