Assessment of Anxiety Level of Parents during Admit and Discharge the Hospitalization of their Children in Urmia Imam Khomeini Hospital, 1377.
Abstract
Abstract: Introduction: Great changes in life are the factors causing to anxiety. One of these changes is hospitalization of a child. The investigators believe that levels of parent’s stress and anxiety are increasing during hospitalization of their children. Anxious parent affect the child in two ways. First, increased anxiety interfere with the ability of the parent to help the child. Second, they communicate anxiety to the child. Therefore, regarding recognition parent anxiety and giving directions for reduction it or positive adaptive response, it is necessitate to conduct one study in this.
Method & Materials: A descriptive study was done to determine level of parent’s anxiety of their hospitalized children. Data collecting instrument was one questionnaire. Parental anxiety was measured using the spiel Berger inventory. Research population consisted of all parent of their hospitalized children in Urmia Imam Khomeini hospital which 130 of them were selected by “simple sampling” method.
Results: The findings showed that state anxiety of parent means during admission and discharge the child was 56.37 and 29.13, respectively. There was statistical significant difference between state anxiety during admission and discharge. But there was no significant difference between trait anxiety during admission and discharge. There was significant difference between state parental anxiety, age and some of demographical characteristics the child such as presence other health problems and previous hospitalization during admission and discharge the child.
Discussion: In regarding to main objective in that determine of parental anxiety during admission and discharge the child, results showed that parent’s anxiety level was high during admission. Therefore, these results indicate necessity consideration of nursing management, responsible and nursing staff to parental emotional reactions during admission and discharge their child. Until with respect to that take necessary action for reduction anxiety and create positive adaptation. To attach this goal, there is a need to conduct further investigation
