Abstract
Abstract: Introduction: In spite of increasing patient with chronic condition, we are facing to excessive patient possessing the necessary for hospitalization. Also early discharge due to deficit in hospital beds and increasing readmission is a main problem. In this middle part, patient teaching is a necessary action to improve self-care skills regarding to this difficult. The main of this study investigator assess the myocardial infarction and unstable angina patient’s view on importance of educational needs. Method & Material: Convenience sampling was used to recruit 122 patients (74 male and 48 female) into the study. Data was collected through structure interviewed by investigator adjusted from original tool devised by Gerard (1976). This instrument consists of 43 item in nine categories of learning needs. Data sheet for demographic variables consists of ten variables. Content validity was confirmed by nine nursing educators and reliability calculated in kuder- Richardson number (I. e. 81). Cronbach’s alpha efficiency for total item has presented a good percent (90%). Results: Categories of “occupation” was in significant difference with sex and job. Drug information had significant difference only with sex and length of stay. In categories of general concerns only difference found with age .Dietary limitation was not in significant difference with demographical variables. Total score showed significant difference only with sex. Also, results showed that categories of “occupation”, “medication/ Dietary limitation” and “General concerns” were important learning needs. Categories such as “stress”, “smoking” and “sexual activity” were at low importance level point of view patients. Important sub groups of every topics were job limitation time of discontinuation drug, route of administration and familiarization with high fat and salt foods and low important subcategories were return to pervious job, necessary actions drug appearance problem in drug consumption, eating food outside home. Discussion: Important learning needs topics are those that relevant to life, some variables such as sex has importance role in determining learning needs. Finally suggestions have presented for other studies.
