Assessing the social responsibility of managers in public and private hospitals, Tabriz 2016
Abstract
Introduction
Social responsibility is the most important elements of known philosophy in organization. Social responsibility, the responsibility for the impacts of its decisions and activities on society and the environment,Through transparent and ethical behavior whose issue is complex and uncertain. So, leaders and organizations and corporate social responsibility seriously and try to among the social, economic and environmental business to create a balance.This study aim is investigating social responsibility of managers in public and private hospitals in Tabriz city.
Method: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted in 2017. Managers of public and private hospitals in Tabriz were formed study population. Sampling was census and 57 managers were selected. Valid and reliable questionnaire of Ministry of Health and Medical Education was used to data collection. SPSS21 and excel software were used for data analyzing.
Findings: Maximum accountability among public and private hospitals was Alavi Hospital (19.2%) and behbood hospital (22.6%) respectively. Patients in public and private hospitals were the most effective group on hospital activities with 3.73% and 1.82% respectively.Pay attention to expectations of employees (3.38%) in public hospitals was the most important of social responsibility definition and action to comply with its legal obligations was the most important of social responsibility definition in private hospital (3.48%). Approaching to international standards in government hospitals (3.23%) and 3.70% in private hospitals was the motivation of Hospital,According to suppliers was the central focus of public and private hospitals (3.76% and 3.51% respectively). medical students and trainees (3.92%) and customers (patients admitted to the hospital) with 3.75% were used in order to ensure fair and ethical behavior in public hospitals. Considering the models of social responsibility in training and reforming mental models (2.23%) in public hospitals and providing awards and incentives in private hospitals (2.06%) were the most important action of University of Medical Sciences and the Ministry of Health in health organizations involved in social responsibility programs.
Discussion and conclusion: Finally, we can conclude that the administrators do not have a single definition of social responsibility and social responsibility is hard for perception. There is not policy and special procedure for the adoption of social responsibility in hospitals. Therefore, it is recommended to holding training classes for managers.
