Investigating students’ Healthy Lifestyle Indicators and their Relationship with their Learning Styles at Tabriz University of Medical Sciences

Abstract
Lifestyle is a routine daily activity that people have accepted in their lives in an acceptable way. On the other hand, one of the effective factors in achieving learning is learning styles. Due to the fact that a better understanding of learning style based on students' lifestyles can produce better and more effective educational results, so in this study we examined the relationship between learning style and lifestyle of new students of Tabriz University of Medical Sciences. Methods and Materials: The present study is part of a cohort study. In this study, a questionnaire of students' healthy lifestyle was used that was validated in the cohort of students of Tabriz University of Medical Sciences. The Club Learning Styles Questionnaire (LSI) was used to determine students' learning styles. The relationship between healthy lifestyle indicators and different student learning styles was examined. After collecting data using descriptive and analytical analysis, the obtained data were statistically analyzed using SPSS software version 20. Results: 392 students were studied. 151 (38.5%) students were male and 241 (61.5%) were female. The total scores obtained in the lifestyle questionnaire for all students averaged 139.32 ± 14.13. The highest total lifestyle score was seen in students with attractive style. (Average 142.59±13.6). The most common type of learning style among students was convergent type (43/9%). Absorbent learning style (35/5% divergent (8.2%) and adaptive learning (7.7%) were in the next ranks. Data analysis showed that among the learning styles of students by age, gender, field of study There is no significant relationship between residence and smoking (P <0.05), but there was a significant relationship between students' learning styles and marital status (P <0.05). The present study examines different areas of a healthy lifestyle. And its relationship with students 'learning style showed that there was no significant relationship between students' learning styles with exercise behavior, adopting regular behaviors, observing healthy eating behaviors and avoiding risky health behaviors (P <0.05). Significant learning behaviors were reported with health responsibility behaviors, social support, value for life, and stress management (P <0.05 in all cases).
