Effect of glargine Insulin on glycemia control in critically ill patients admitted to intensive care unit

Abstract

The aim of current study was to investigate the effects of insulin glargine on blood glucose control in ill patients admitted in ICU. Materials & Methods: This study was performed on 100 patients at general ICU of Imam Reza and Shohada Hospital. The patients in control group was treated by intravenous infusion of regular insulin and in the other group moreover to routine treatment insulin glargine 10IU was administered. In all patients, the daily blood glucose, the daily regular insulin take and hypoglycemia rate recorded. Results: The mean age of patients was 61.68 years with 16.077 standard deviation.
