Quantitative electroencephalography (QEEG) indexes during continuous performance task in children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
Abstract
This study is determined to quantitative electroencephalography indexes in children with ADHD during continuous performance task which is in resting state.
Methods: Participants were recruited from 40 children aged 7-12 years referred to the out- patient children and adolescent psychiatric clinics of Tabriz University of Medical sciences. all participants were assessed by a pediatric psychiatrist and according to inclusion criteria were included in study and electroencephalography recorded under four various conditions : first in relaxed condition with closed eyes, then with open eyes, that they recorded as basic EEG.After that, CPT-II performance and after CPT-II performance with open eyes. Finally the relative power of EEG activity during 4 conditions , three regions (anterior , central and posterior) and in seven frequency bands (delta, theta, alpha 1&2, beta 1,2&3 ) in children with ADHD were compared to each other.
Result: The results have shown that conditionally there is no significant difference between four conditions, but the interactional effects of condition x band and condition x reigon were significant, furthermore the interactional effects of reigon x band and condition x reigon x band were also significant.
