Data were gathered by questionnaire, mothers file and newborn’s identification card. Questionnaire included 60 questions about demographics, prenatal care receiving, prenatal care presenting, mother’s knowledge about prenatal care and pregnancy outcome. The last part was completed by referring to mother’s file and newborn’s identification card. To analyses of the data, descriptive statistics including absolute and proportional distribution, means, standard deviation and analytic statistic lick x^2 , chopof contingency coefficient, Spearman correlation, Kolmogorov smirnov, Kruskal Wallis, and exact test were used. Results: According to the result, 42% of mothers had received intermediate care, 30٪ of mothers had received inadequate care, 22% adequate and 6% adequate plus care. Rather old husbands, early married mothers, low education of mothers and their husbands, low income for the family, big family, unwanted pregnancy, common and usual complications in the pregnancy were accompanied by decreasing the adequacy of prenatal care. Also mother’s knowledge of prenatal care was exactly related to receiving care that by increasing knowledge receiving prenatal care was increased. Moreover, the result showed that the lack of prenatal care in the previous pregnancies, going to the centers only at the time of problems or irregular visiting, the lack of encouraging factors, inappropriate situation of clinics and doctors office for the factors relating the system of presenting services and inappropriate situation of these going to the clinics for the individual factors were related to decrease adequacy of prenatal care. Also, preterm labour, Apgar score 7 point or higher in the first minute of birth, IUGR, LBW was related to increasing the adequacy of prenatal care. Related to the findings of this study, suggestions presented to increase adequacy of prenatal care and suggestions for further studies on this topic.
