Assessing of Psycho- Social Development in Thalassemic School- Aged Children Compare with Healthy Children. Mashhad, 1380.
Abstract
Abstract: Background: Thalassemia is epidemic hemato disorders. Thalassemia syndrome has different aspects in psycho, social and economical. Children with chronic physical illness have psycho, disorders and nonsocial adaptation. The purpose of this study was to investigate of psycho- social development in thalassemic school-aged children in compare healthy children.
Method: This study was a descriptive analytic. Samples of this study included 140 children which divided in two group: case group (thalassemia children) and control group (healthy children). After performing pre- test in two groups investigator performed data collection via questioner. Data regarding practice was gathered after three months. Descriptive statistic (Frequencies, mean and standard deviation) and analytical statistics (x^2 test, t test and two way variance analysis) were used for data analyzing.
Result: The result revealed that these were significant differences in mean scores of self- confidence (p<0.0001), social competence (p=0.038) and behavior problems (p<0.0001) between case group and control group and there was no significant difference in mean scores of self- steam between case group and control group.
Conclusion: The results showed that thalassemic children had a low level of self -confidence and social competence and a high level of behavior problems in compare normal children.
