چکیده
Intruduction: Diabetes is a set of metabolic disorders that result from impaired insulin secretion, insulin function, or both, causing high blood sugar. It is estimated that by 2030 the population of people with diabetes will reach more than 366 million. Herbs have long been used to treat diseases by various communities, and research shows the growing importance and application of herbal medicine in diabetes. Objective: To investigate the anti-diabetic effects of Marrubium parviflorum on Streptozotocin-induced diabetic male mice. Materials and Methods: Methanolic extract of the plant was extracted by Soxhlet method. Male mice were divided into 5 groups. The first group is a healthy control group, The second group (diabetic control group), Third group (healthy control group receiving 50 mg / kg extract), Group 4 (diabetic group receiving the extract at a dose of 50 mg / kg) And the fifth group (diabetic group receiving the extract at a dose of 100 mg / kg). A single dose of 150 mg / kg streptozotocin was injected to induce diabetes. The extract was then injected daily for 21 days. Before induction of diabetes and then every three days, weight and blood sugar of the animals were measured and two days before surgery, OGTT test was performed. Results: IP injection of 50 and 100 mg / kg methanolic extracts of M. parviflorum reduced blood sugar in diabetic rats and improved oral glucose tolerance, increased serum TAC and decreased serum MDA, serum SGOT and SGPT. Conclusion: M. parviflorum methanolic extract can play a protective and therapeutic role in diabetes by lowering blood sugar and serum MDA levels and serum SGOT and SGPT enzymes and increasing serum TAC.
