Abstract
Aim and background :The effect of Aleo vera gel as an intracanal medicament on the fracture resistance of root Introduction: The fracture of dental roots can have a variety causes. This study was conducted to investigate the effect ofAleo vera gel as an intracanal medicament on the fracture resistance of root Materials and methods : 60 single rooted mandibular premolar which were extracted for periodontal reasons were collected and decoronated. Root canals were prepared by protaper system to F3.%2.5 NaOCl used for irrigation. The smear layer was removed using %2.5 NaOCl ,17%EDTA for 3 min. The samples were randomly devided into three groups based on The medicament 1. Ca(OH)2 2- Aleo vera gel 3- Control Teeth were inclubated in %100 humidity at 37 C° for one week (group A ) and one month (group B) Then medicament were removed by 10 ml 2.5% NaOCl and normal salin irrigation , the specimen were filled with gutta-percha and AH26 sealer by lateral compaction . Then the teeth were inserted into a universal testing machine (instron) and vertically loaded (1mm/min )until the tooth fracture was occurred . The data was recorded in newtons and statistically evaluated using kruscal - wallis and one way ANOVA tests. Result : Although there was no significant difference between groups after one week , Aleo vera gel increased the fracture resistance in one month. Conclusion : Under the condition of this study , Aleo vera gel when used as intracanl medicaments do not a neggetive effect on root fracture resistance.
