Comparison the effect of Avastin and Avastin combined with methylcellulose in intraocular pressure after Non-penetrating glaucoma surgery

Abstract

The aim of this study was comparison the effect of Avastin and Avastin combined with methylcellulose in intraocular pressure after Non-penetrating glaucoma surgery. Materials and Methods: In this double blinded randomized controlled trial 30 eyes from 30 patients (15 eyes in each group) were enrolled and underwent deep sclerectomy surgery from may 2016 to may 2017. At the end of surgery in group A Bevacizumab and in group B Bevacizumab-Methylcellulose mixture were injected subconjunctival. Success rate of surgery, intraocular pressure and Bleb morphology were measured as main outcomes. Results: In this study, 30 eyes from 30 subjects (15 eyes in each group) with open angle glaucoma (33.3% SOAG + pex and 66.7% POAG) were studied in two groups. Of these, 66.7% were males and 33.3% were females. Visual acuity in two group before and after surgery wasn't significantly different. At most times, the rate of IOP reduction in patients in the BMM group was more than in the Bevacizumab group, Although the difference between the two groups were significant only at the times of one day and 6 months after procedure. There wasn't any significant difference between the two groups in the success rate (complete or relative success and failure) at the six-month follow up (p > 0.05). There wasn't significant difference between two group in MD and PSD after the surgery. The rate of vascularity was significantly decreased in the BMM group after one month, three months and six months compared to the Bevacizumab group.
