Study on the clinical features, laboratory finding and prognosis of poisoning among aluminum phosphide poisoned patients, admitted to the Sina hospital, Tabriz: During the years 2018—2019

Abstract
Background: Aluminum phosphide (ALP) is an inorganic substance used to control insects and rodents in grain storage. This tablet is the common cause of poisoning in adults with a very high fatality ratio in Iran. This project is aimed to Study on the clinical features, laboratory finding and prognosis of poisoning among aluminum phosphide poisoned patients, admitted to the Sina hospital, Tabriz: During the years 2018—2019. Materials and Methods: A total of 66 poisonings were included in the study within a year.For this reason a questionnaire that included demographic and poisoning characteristic information were prepared.All the Aluminum phosphide poisoning cases admitted to hospital were selected and for each case questionnaires information was completed. After data collection, data were coded and analyzed by SPSS software using descriptive statistics (frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation) . Results: The study was carried out on 66 cases of poisoning which come to sina hospital majority of the cases were women 54.5% and 53% single, from rural area cases 65.2%, housewife 34.8%,lower educated 37.9% and mostly cases occurred in age group of 20-30 years.The main reason of poisoning was suicide. The death rate was 40.9%. Most patients had nausea and vomiting. Clinical symptoms were observed in 51.51% hypotention, 6.1% cyanosis and 56.06% of patients with loss of consciousness. The WBC with mean of 11412 mm3 and ALT and AST enzymes with mean of 30.81 IU / L and 32.96 IU / L Indicates an increase in these parameters. Conclusion:Also, regarding to high mortality of ALP poisoning, more trainings and warnings through medias on ALP poisoning dangers is necessary
