Evaluation of patients with ischemic or hemorrhagic stroke

Abstract
Mortality and morbidity of stroke and its complications can disable these patients for the rest of their lives, there is a need to investigate and pay more attention to this disease and we also consider the process of diagnosis, treatment, risk Clinical, laboratory, and imaging factors and manifestations are based on the information recorded in the records of these patients at Tabriz Pediatric Hospital, and we can move toward better and faster diagnosis and treatment of these patients. Materials and Methods: .Seventy-three children with stroke referred to Tabriz Pediatric Educational Center during the period 2014 to 2019 who met the inclusion criteria were identified and analyzed. Checklist for each case file includes information on patient records including 1 - Demographic information 2 - Primary clinical symptoms 3- Physical examination findings 4- Imaging findings 5- Stroke type 6- Treatment results (complete remission, partial remission) , Recurrence complications) were extracted. Findings: According to the results of our study, out of 73 stroke patients, 41 (56.2%) were male and 32 (43.8%) were female. Mean age of patients was 28.52 ± 35.9 months. The most common age was 24 months and the highest number of patients was reported in rang of 1-12 months of age. Of 73 strokes, 71 (97.3%) were ischemic and 2 (2.7%) were hemorrhagic. Symptom onset was 2.2± 1.73 days before diagnosis and 33 patients (45.8%) presented at the first day interval. Right hemiparesis (49.3%) and seizures (46.6%) were the most common clinical symptoms. Basal ganglia and left parietal were the most common brain areas. In 72 patients, the etiology of stroke is known and infectious causes with 26% and cardiac causes with 23.3% are the most common risk factors. Neurologic deficits were seen in 44 patients (60.3%) and recurrence in 8 patients (11%).
