Evaluation of the effect of Cross-linkage between pedicular screws for fusion in patient with traumatic thoracolumbar vertebral fractures
Abstract
The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of Cross-linkage between pedicular screws for fusion in patient with traumatic thoracolumbar vertebral fractures.Materials and Methods: This randomized clinical trial study was performed on 60 patients with thoracolumbar vertebral fractures due to trauma referring to Imam Reza Hospital in Tabriz. All patients received initial neurological evaluation of trauma and medical emergencies in a neurological study. Radiography of thoracolumbar spine and CT scan was investigated with triple reconstruction in axillary and sagittal and coronal planes and MRI after admission in the axillary and sagital segments. Results: postoperative infections were observed in 3 patients (5%), in 2 patients (3.3%) of group A and one patient (1.7%) of group C. In group B, no infection was detected following surgical intervention. In group A, bone fusion was observed in 13 (65%) patients. 95% of bone fusion was observed in each of groups B and C. According to the results, there was a significant difference between group A and group B and C in bone fusion (p=0.009). No fractures were found on the device.
