A comparative study of distal femur anthropometric factors between intact and ruptured ACL pateints
Abstract
Various anthropometric factors have been evaluated in the distal femur of different individuals, and the changes in these factors have been demonstrated in individuals with ACL rupture as compared to healthy individuals. In this study, we decided to examine some of the less studied criteria in previous studies in the Iranian race.Materials and methodsIn this study, patients referred to Shohada and Imam Reza Hospitals of Tabriz who underwent knee MRI were evaluated and after obtaining confirmation of the criteria mentioned in the sample section and obtaining written consent to participate in the study. The study evaluated their distal femoral anthropometric factors including intercondylar width, inner condyle width, outer condylar width, epicondylar width, and notch shape index in millimeters. ANOVAs were used for statistical analysis. The sample size was 100 samples divided into two groups of 50 healthy and patient.ResultsAmong the measured factors, the notch shape index in men and women was significantly different between the healthy and the patient group (p <0.05). No significant differences were found between the healthy and the patient group in men and women in the other indices measured..
