A survey on the CNS effective drugs toxicity related birth defects at Shahid-motahari hospital of Uromieh between 2007 and 2017
Abstract
Introduction: Congenital anomalies occur during conception or intrauterine development and appear at birth. Congenital defects may be caused by environmental factors. The use of medication in pregnancy may be a risk factor for congenital anomalies.
Aim: The purpose of this study was to determine CNS effective drugs toxicity related birth defects at Shahid-motahari hospital of Uromieh between 2007 and 2017.
Materials and Methods: 216 women referring to the hospital enrolled to the study by available sampling. The instrument to collect data was the questionnaire for congenital defects resulted from consuming drugs. The survay was retreospective descriptive-analytic study. All data analysis was performed using SPSS version 25, and significant level was considered as p<0.05.
Results: The results showed that there is no relationship between birth abnormality and consuming CNS effective drugs during pregnancy. Lack of presence of significant relationship between critical symptoms of the infant and record of the mother's illnesses and use of drug during pregnancy, the presence of abnormality at the time of birth and record of the mother's illnesses and the mother's age and the number of pregnancies and the number of abortions, the presence of abnormality at the time of birth and the mother's age, the presence of abnormality at the time of birth and the number of pregnancies, the presence of abnormality at the time of birth and the number of abortions, critical symptoms of the infant and the infant's gender, the presence of abnormality at the time of birth and the infant's gender are of alternative findings of the present research.
Conclusion: Results of this study showed that good care and increasing knowledge of mothers during pregnancy and regular reffering to the health canters, could result in decreased congenital defects.
