Happiness and its Relation with Burnout and Job Performance of Nurses in Tabriz Educational Hospitals, 2018
Abstract
Abstract:
Introduction: The mental sense of well being is important in all professions. Difficult working conditions for nurses can have a great impact on nurses' emotional well-being and their ability to function and providing care. Burnout is a psychological response to a constant source of stress in the workplace. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between happiness and job burnout and job performance of nurses in Tabriz Medical Education Centers.
Materials and Methods: This descriptive correlational study was performed on 344 nurses working in educational centers of Tabriz. Sampling was done by stratified random sampling in proportion to volume. Data were collected using four-part questionnaire (demographic information, job burnout, and Oxford happiness and jobperformance). The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics (mean, standard deviation and relative frequency) and Pearson correlationT_ test and k2 and multiple linear regression.
Results: The mean score of happiness in the present study was 64.2 ± 11.5 which indicates the average level of happiness in the studied nurses. There was a significant relationship between happiness with one's perception of their health status, history of illness, person's position, type of employment, burnout, and job performance.
Conclusion: Based on the results of the reversal effect of burnout on happiness and the direct effect of job satisfaction on happiness, it is suggested that managers try to reduce job burnout by increasing anxiety and depression and other negative emotions related to burnout. Nurses use happiness growth.
