Title: Quality of working life and it’s relationship with personality dimensions and fatigue in nurses of Tabriz medical sciences educational-treatment centers in 1397.
Introduction:
Considering the importance of quality of working life of nurses, it is necessary to identify its predictive factors. Fatigue and personality dimensions are factors related to the quality of life of nurses.The present study has been carried out with the aim of determining the relationship between quality of working life of nurses with personality dimensions and fatigue.
Method: In this descriptive-correlational study, 198 nurses were randomly and classically selected in Tabriz educational-treatment centers. The main tools of data collection consisted of 4 parts: questionnaire of demographic characteristics, questionnaire of quality of nurse’s working life (QNWL), questionnaire of assessment of five personality traits (NEO) and fatigue questionnaire (MFI). Data were analyzed using spss21 software. The Pearson correlation coefficient, independent t- test and analysis of variance were also used for analyzing data.
Results: The findings of study showed that the highest average for dimensions of quality of life questionnaire was related to The work context dimension (83.56+_ 25.39) and the lowest average was related to score of The work world dimension (17.14+_6.88). There was a significant statistical relationship between quality of working life with gender, level of education, employment status, economic status, and type of ward. The highest average+_ standard deviation (49.82+_14.06) for personality dimensions was related to dimension of accountability and the lowest average +_ standard deviation (24.81+_3.47) was related to dimension of neuroticism. There was a significant statistical relationship between extroversion and accountability as two dimensions of personality traits and quality of working life. (P=0.00).There was a significant and reverse statistical relationship between total score of quality of working life and fatigue (P=0.04). There was no significant statistical relationship between the personality dimensions and fatigue.
Conclusion: Personality traits and fatigue can be factors influencing the quality of working life of staff. According to the results of this study, nurses with personality trait of extroversion and conscience are expected to have a better imagination toward their working conditions. Therefore, paying attention to these indicators, having a plan and implementing training programs can be effective on quality of working life of nurses.
