Survey of the Histopathological Prevalence of Skin Adnexal Tumors, and Simultaneous Occurrence with other Malignant Skin Tumors in Tabriz Sina Hospital from 2013 to 2018

Abstract
Skin cancer is one of the most common cancers in the whole world and is ranked first to second in many parts of our country. Adnexal skin tumors are rare neoplasms that originate from hair follicles, sebaceous glands, and sweat glands. The aim of the present study was to survey of the histopathological prevalence of skin adnexal tumors, and simultaneous occurrence with other malignant skin tumors in Tabriz Sina Hospital from 2013 to 2018. Materials and Methods: Patients referring to dermatology department and clinic of Sina Hospital of Tabriz in 2013 to 2018 who were suspected to have adnexal cutaneous tumors for pathologic evaluation and confirmation skin biopsy was done. Data were extracted from patients' records and general information including age, sex, duration and type of skin tumor was determined. According to the pathologist's report, histopathological type and the synchrony of this type of adnexal skin tumor with other skin tumors were determined. Results: The present study was performed on 233 patients. The most common age of onset was in the 30-39 years age group with a frequency of 18% and the most common tumor observed in this category was the Hair Follicle Tumor. The most common histopathology of skin adnexal tumors was Eccrine Sweet Gland tumors with a frequency of 42.1%, which was higher in males than in females (44.5% vs. 39%). The most common site of tumor involvement was head and face surfaces with a frequency of 54.5%, with a higher rate of involvement in males (57.8% vs. 50.5%).
