Construction a Device for Measurement of Lower Limb Length and Assessment of Leg Length Discrepancy
Abstract
Aim: Construction a device, which could accurately measure LLD in a clinical way. Methods: The new device has been designed to measure LLD in two ways: 1- Degree: leveling bony landmarks of the pelvis. 2- Load: equalizing the load bearing of both feet. First we measured LLD in healthy volunteers with both methods, and compared two measures. Then we measured LLD with degree method of new device in patients who have (or would have) CT scanogram of lower limbs, and compare the accuracy of the new device. Results: Out of 41 participants in this study 16 were volunteers, and 25 were patients who have or (would have) lower limbs CT scanogram. The mean absolute difference of measuring LLD was 1.50 ± 7.16 mm when comparing degree and load methods in volunteers which was not statistically significant (P value =0.415). the mean absolute difference of measuring LLD was 1.08 ± 11.07 mm when comparing degree method and CT scanogram in patients, which was not significant (P value = 0.630)
