Explanation of fever according to Persian Medicine
Abstract
Introduction: Fever is the most important and common symptom of diseases in all ages. It can cause by diseases like infectious, autoimmune, cancers, endocrine or drug’s side effects. Based on Persian Medicine fever can be a unique disease or complication of another illness. In both viewpoints, it is not allowed to treat the symptom only, and eradication of main reason is suggested. In this study, we aimed to investigate the fever based on Persian Medicine beside Current Medicine to prepare new suggestions for diagnosis and treatment.
Methods: This is a qualitative study in which from the recent reliable Persian Medicine textbooks and Medical Encyclopedia that are practical too. After extraction of data, investigation and analysis were done.
Findings: Based on Persian Medicine, fever is a disease and can be a complication or can change into another disease. The various types of fever based on involved location in the body, divided in: Daily fever, Temperamental (infectious) fever and Hectic (degh) fever. In Persian Medicine it was said in details about etiology, underlying reasons, susceptible people, diagnostic and differential diagnostic points, side effects of medical mistakes, comprehensive therapeutic plans such as life style and ordinary works, foods and drinks, simple or combined herbal drugs and invasive procedures.
Result: In Persian Medicine was paid attention in details to fever topic, that we neglect during ordinary plans. Putting together both Persian and current Medicine can be useful for patient and physician. Although working more on fever topic especially doing clinical trials is suggested.
