Abstract
Clubfoot or Congenital talipes equinovarus is one of the most prevalent congenital orthopedic anomalies. Regarding high rate of relapse of this anomaly besides difficulties in its management as surgical or non-surgical, clubfoot has always been a challenge for pediatric orthopedic surgeons. Considering lack of related studies and high incidence of this condition in our country, we decided to perform this study to evaluate the results of lizarov technique without soft tissue release in Shohada Hospital, Tabriz. Methods: In this study 47 patients (56 feet) were evaluated. Treatment was unilateral in 38 and bilateral in 9 patients. Thirty nine patients (69,6 %) were male and 17 ones (30.4 %) were female. Average age was 7.86±1.4 years old. All changes in evaluated angles showed significant improvement. Before and after treatment plantarfelxion and dorsiflexion angles were (20.12±6.52 and 25.89±644) and (-16:51±8.36 and 6.19±6.42). Talocalcaneal and libiocalcaneal angels and the angle between talus and first metatarsal also showed improvement. AOFAS score were calculated 52.46±9.63 and 74.87±7.1 before and after treatment, respectively (p < 0.001). Before treatment, majority of patients were in class III (32.1 %) and class IV (62.5 %) of Dimeglio classification. After treatment there was no patients in these classes and 69.6% were in class I and 30.4% were in class II.
