Abstract
Vitamin D and calcium serum levels in cancers are among the markers that show different values under the influence of communities and geographical factors in different cancers. Therefore, the aim of this study was to determine the amount of these markers in gastric adenocarcinoma in northwest of Iran. Materials and Methods: In this prospective cohort study, all patients who referred to Tabriz Imam Reza Hospital and diagnosed with gastric adenocarcinoma according to inclusion and exclusion criteria. Were affected. Demographic data including age, height, weight, sex and BMI were collected by a questionnaire. The patients were diagnosed at the relevant endoscopy center and pathologic diagnosis was performed. The results were collected and then the stage of gastric adenocarcinoma was determined for patients according to TMN AJCC table. After endoscopy, serum levels of vitamin D and calcium were measured in patients. Previous studies in clinical records of patients were not used to prevent bias in the study. Results: Mean ± SD of vitamin D in the studied patients was 29.37±10.40 ng/mL. The lowest vitamin D content was 9.37 ng/mL and the highest amount was 56.65 ng/mL. The mean ± SD of blood ionized calcium in the studied patients was 1.09±0.90 mmol/L. The lowest amount of calcium ionized in the blood was 0.90 mmol/L and the highest was 1.20 mmol/L.
