A survey of Speech Therapy Information Management in Tabriz University of Medical Science rehabilitation centers in 1392

Abstract
Introduction: Health Information Management is a profession that attends to the
nature, structure, and translation of data into usable forms of information to
promote health and health care of individuals and populations.
Aim: Therefore, this study was conducted to identify the situation of speech
therapy information management in rehabilitation centers affiliated with Tabriz
University of Medical Science.
Method: This descriptive cross-sectional study was performed in 2013 to assess
the speech therapy information management in rehabilitation centers affiliated
with Tabriz University of Medical Sciences. Data collection tools are a check list
and questionnaire designed based on previous studies and also analyzed using
SPSS21, and One Sample t Test to compare the average of statistical sample with
that of statistical population.
Results: The Results of research showed that total rate of demographic data was
(2/15 ± 42/0); method of storing and retrieving information was (1/54 ± 48/0);
data processing was (1/45 ± 48/0); and calculation of indices was (1/73 ± 56/0).
This indicates that the demographic sub-scales are favorable, but the other subscales
of speech therapy information management are unfavorable at the
rehabilitation centers of Tabriz University of Medical Sciences and then solutions
will be offered about these 4 subjects.
Conclusion: The existence of dynamic and efficient speech therapy information
management system is necessary.Therefore, there should be appropriate and
standard legislations for gathering, storing, data analysis, data recovering and
regular reporting in data system for ensure about effectiveness of the services and
availability information.
