Abstract
Abstarct Introduction: User satisfaction has been considered as the most important measure for evaluating information system effectiveness. Objective: The aim of this study was to determine the factors affecting user satisfaction with hospital information systems in the form of structural equation modeling. Method and material: The study population consisted of hospital information system users in the hospitals affiliated with Tabriz University of Medical Sciences. A questionnaire was designed based on the findings from the systematic review. After assessing validity of questionnaire by experts and the final confirmation, questionnaires were administered among 384 users of hospital information system. Data analysis was carried out through using AMOS 22 software. Results: Overall 8 dimensions of factors were confirmed to be related to the user satisfaction with HIS through structural equation modeling. They include information quality (13 items), system quality (16 items),service quality (10 items) , organizational structure & managing style (5 items),system usefulness(7 items) , system use (5 items) , user characteristics (9 items), computer anxiety (4 items) with significant level (p<0.001) and higher than the critical rate (1.96) .Throughout all domains, the most important items affecting the user satisfaction include transparency of information(0.6), system upgradability( SE=0.78 ), Providing updated equipment hardware and software (SE=0.58), consultative behavior of managers toward users about the system (SE=0.8), variety of hospital information system usage( SE=0.71),user skill and ability (SE=0.52), better information management (SE=0.78), sense of disability by users in control of hospital information system (SE=0.72). Conclusion: the integrated model obtained in this research can be used as an effective tool in designing, developing and managing user-driven hospital information system and can lead to success of hospital information system. Key words: structural equation modeling, user satisfaction, hospital information system, Factors , dimensions
