The Survey of Accreditation Interventions on Quality and Safety improvement of provided health services in Imam Reza teaching hospital ICU Wards (2013-2014).

Abstract
Abstract Introduction:Like other countries,Iran has been joined a growing list of countries that implemented hosp ital accreditation system with the aim of quality of healthcare and sefety of patients .Although the program implementation is at the egenda,there has been no detailed investigation of its effect on patient-related outcomes. Materials and Methods: This interventional study was accomplished based on executive management and scientific methods such as plan-do-check-act (PDCA) cycle and audit to improve quality and safety in the ICU wards of Imam Reza teaching, research and medical hospital, Tabriz, Iran. Checklists validated by the Ministry of Health and Medical Education were used to assessing the wards. Root-cause analysis was carried out based of the assessments, and then, interventions were designed and implemented. To monitoring the progresses, the research team selected several indicator and tracked them. Results: The implemented interventions based on the accreditation standards resulted an increased score in the accreditation status (from 30.2 percent of points to 76 percent). Our study also demonstrated positive effect of accreditation on almost all indicators of interest.
