Technical Efficiency Appraisal Of Tabriz University Of Medical Science Hospitals By Quantitative Approach Data Envelopment Analysis(DEA) 1390-1393
Abstract
Abstract
Background: The hospital is one of the main organizations which offering health care and medical services in a high level allocated sources in the health sectors. Therefore, considering to efficiency costs is great importance. This study aims in considering the efficiency of the hospitals of Tabriz University of Medical Sciences (TUMS), by using Data Exhaustive Analysis Method.
Materials and Methods: In this study, the efficiency of Hospitals of TUMS was assessed by Data Envelopment Analysis method during years 2111- 2114. The variables were of two types: output variables including the percentage of occupied beds, number of inpatient and outpatient admission and hospital revenue ,input variables were number of active beds, number of nurses and medical staff and and annual costs of the hospital. The data was analyzed using Deap2.1 software.
Results: Average of technical, management and scale efficiency of hospitals was 1.85 , 1.93 and 1.91 respectively. We concluded that the capacity of efficiency promotion in hospitals is increasable up to 151. In addition, the nurses as one of the most important input variables, had the most apparent slack inputs.
Conclusion: It is suggested that to leave out the surplus inputs and In order to measure efficiency of a hospital comprehensively it is necessary to mix and assess a set of input, process, and output indicators of the hospital with qualitative indicators.
