Assessment of older adults’ satisfaction with services provided by welfare organization of Khodabandeh, Iran
Abstract
Background: Older people need a variety of services. They are one of the most vulnerable sectors of society. Therfore, more attention and support should be evaluated and reviewed to meet their physical, social and psychological needs. This study was conducted to assess older adults’ satisfaction with services provided by welfare organization of Khodabandeh, Iran.
Method: We used a descriptive-survey approach. The sample consisted of 83 older people who were covered by the Khodabandeh welfare office. The goal and method of research were explained and the written consent form was obtained from all participants. The data were collected applying a researcher-made questionnaire whose reliability and its validity were confirmed. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, binomial and Friedman tests.
Results: The majority of respondents were aged 65-75, had had elementary education, 42% of them were male, and 61% were married. The satisfaction level of services including educational, rehabilitation, medical, and social supports were categorized as moderate index.
Conclusion: To maximize the physical and mental health status of the elderly of the community, managers and decision makers of the welfare organization need to focus on improving the dimensions of services, in particular, counseling facilities, the prevention of disabilities, and social cares.
