perforation of nasal septum;etiology and diognosis

Abstract
septal nasal perforation is a chalenging diagnosis because of the varient etiologies. Septal nasal blood supply dysfunctions such as chemicals, drugs and mechanical trauma can make perforations happen. Septal nasal perforations have varient symptoms, most of them have no symptoms. Others claim recurrent epistaxis with crusts, discharges or whistling and nasal deformity. in this study the etiology of the nasal perforations is discussed. Method: this study is cohort study ,106 patients (64 men , 42 women) participated in this study who were diagnosed with septal nasal perforation and were visited at ENTclinics of emam reza hostpitals from2013-2016. A questionnaire was used to gather needed informations and was analysed by spss 16. Results: 106 patients (38.4% women and 60.4% men) participated in this study with mean age of 42.4 . according to this study smoking was seen in 32 cases(30.2%) alcohol use in 3cases(2.8%), no septal nasal perforations was reported due to opiates. History of trauma was seen in 4 cases(3.8%) and history of nasal bone fracture in 14 cases(13.2%). History of septoplasty was demonstrated in 69 patients (65%) and stroid using in 3 cases(2.8%). Also 55 claimed to have sinusitis. In ten patients nasal adhesion was seen. 4 patints had history of cuterization and 5 had nasal trauma. Also six experienced other surgeries such as fess and polypectomy.
