Abstract
Introduction: Consultation is essential and effective in the student's educational process. Advice by supervisors during the course will help students to overcome problems, achieve educational goals, and succeed. Insufficient counseling will disrupt students' access to educational and professional goals and may not use adequate resources to meet their educational needs. Methods and Materials: In this analytical-cross-sectional study, a researcher-made questionnaire was used to collect data. Validity and reliability were confirmed by relevant scientific resources. The questionnaire consists of 20 questions, including 10 questions related to the challenges and obstacles available and 10 questions related to the solutions to the challenges and obstacles in the direction of the implementation of the guide's master plan and promotion. The questionnaire was provided to 80 dental faculty members of Tabriz and 120 dental students of Tabriz. The results were analyzed using descriptive statistics, independent t-test, one-way ANOVA or nonparametric equivalents of U-Mann-Whitney and Kruskal-Wallis tests. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS 17 software and the significance level was considered as P <0.05. Result: The reliability of the questionnaire related to the challenges and obstacles was 53% from the viewpoint of the students and 79% from the viewpoint of the supervisor. Also, the reliability of proposed strategies from the viewpoint of students was 81% and from the viewpoint of supervisor was 86%. One of the most important obstacles in the student's view of the unsuccessful experience of previous years was the supervisor in their discouragement, which was reported by 84%. The next option, which was reported by 68% of the students, was a lack of a management system. Also, the results from the presentation of the strategy from the viewpoint of the students revealed that the workshops had the highest frequency (about 81%) in advancing the goals of the consultation. One of the most important obstacles in the viewpoint of supervisor regarding the design of the supervisor's master's system was the student's lack of integrity with the professor (with a frequency of 85%). According to 84% of the professors, the suggested solution to the challenges was to allocate sufficient time for the student by the supervisor. Stress in different parts of the university, especially clinical, and the fear of inappropriate behavior of faculty members and staff has always been one of the concerns of students in clinical education and is a serious obstacle to self-confidence and student learning in a clinical setting. Which highlights the importance of the educational authorities' attention to providing the appropriate educational environment.
