Nurse - Patient Perception of Stressors associated with Coronary Artery Bypass Graft in Madani Treatment Training Center, Tabriz 2011.
Abstract
Abstract: Cardiac surgery due to associated stressors, has many physiological, psychological, emotional, spiritual and growth potential consequences. Assessment of stressors, need to nurses and patients understand of stressors that are different from each other. The aim of this study was nurse - patient perception of coronary artery bypass surgery stressors.
Materials and Methods: This is a descriptive - comparison study, and has been done in Madani treatment training center and participants in this study included patients who undergone coronary artery bypass surgery and third to fifth postoperative day were admitted in cardiac surgical wards, and the nurses who were caring of this patients and each group were 68 person, which had consent and inclusion criteria. Data collection instruments were demographic questionnaire, Revised Cardiac Surgery Stressor Scale (RCSSS) after validity and reliability were used.
Results: According to total RCSSS mean scores, nurses (2.38 ± 0.56) perceived significantly more than patients (1.65 ± 0.44) perceived them to have. Nurse - patient perception of intrapersonal, interpersonal, and extra personal stressors was different.
Conclusion: According to the results, nurses can assess all aspects of patients, included intrapersonal, interpersonal and extra personal stressors and according to the needs of patients, provide effective training, in order to facilitate patient compliance with the stressors.
