The Relationship between Knowledge and Performance of Nurses about Venipuncture in Neonates in Hospitals affiliated to Tabriz University of Medical Sciences in Year 92
Abstract
Abstract: Background: venipuncture is the main Procedure among hospitalized patients because in most cases Savior for patients and because off its aggressive nature common complications associated with this procedure. This study examines the relationship between knowledge and performance of nurses about venipuncture in neonates in the Hospitals of Tabriz University Medical Sciences.
Methods: This study is Descriptive Correlation was conducted based on the 65 nurses Employed in Tabriz hospitals neonatal units. Data collection tools is the questionnaire of knowledge and Check list of knowledge & performance of nurses about venipuncture. The gathered data was collected and analyzed with software-based spss/13 descriptive Index and Pearson correlation coefficients
Result: The results of this study showed that nurses' knowledge(7/37) and performance(57/71) about venipuncture of neonates is moderate. Pearson correlation test showed that there is not a significant relationship between knowledge and performance of nurses(p=0/142) .but the relationship is positive (r=0/11) and increases performance with increasing knowledge of nurses.
Conclusion: The findings showed that between knowledge and performance nurses is a direct correlation. therefore suggested solutions processes to Promotion of knowledge and performance of nurses about venipuncture of neonate.
