Abstract
Introduction: Children's co-operation is directly related to their oral health. The purpose of this study is to identify the factors related to the collaboration of children, trying to understand this variable as much as possible. therefore The aim of the present study was investigate the relationship between social skills and parent-child relationship with cooperation of children (6 to 9 years old) in the pediatric department of Tabriz Dental university.
Method: The study population consisted of all healthy children aged 6 to 9 years old. They were referred to the dentistry group of Tabriz University in 2018, and 72 children were selected by available sampling method. The data were collected through modified Frankl scale, Matsson Social Skills Assessment Questionnaire, and mother-child relationship evaluation (MCRE). Data were analyzed using Pearson correlation coefficient.
Results: The results showed that there is a correlation between social skills and parent / child relationship with the level of children's collaboration. Also, the results of regression analysis were significant for predicting children's collaboration based on social skills and parent / child relationship.
Conclusion: Social skills and parent-child relationship are factors influencing the rate of cooperation between children aged 6 and 9 in pediatric department of Tabriz dental university. Therefore, the study of social skills and parent-child relationship provide useful information to pediatric.
