Assement of the knowledge and utilization of students of dentistry faculty of Tabriz university of medical sciences about information technology and its applications in dentistry 2018cell

Abstract

The appearing and spread of information technology has affected modern life from all elements. The health and medical sector has also been involved with advances in modern technologies and computer programs, the use of the Internet in dentistry has many benefits, but because of some barriers to using the Internet sometimes it will be difficult to target, so the goal of This study examines students' knowledge and practice of professional IT applications. Material and Method In this cross-sectional descriptive-analytical study, after approving the validity of the questionnaire, about 300 students were distributed. The questionnaire consisted of three parts: field questions (age, sex, etc.), general use and the use of specialized information technology. After collecting the questionnaire, statistical analysis was performed using SPSS software. Results In this study, 299 students were surveyed; 96.3% of students had personal computers or laptops; this study showed that general use of information technology (43.5% of email usage, 57.9% % For chat, 1/25%, and so on). The students 'knowledge about professional applications was calculated based on the score of the questionnaire at 9.67, and the students' performance was 6.96. Conclusion The level of knowledge and performance of the students was relatively good, which requires more attention in order to keep pace with the development of information technology and teaching the educational tools in this field.
