Abstract
Introduction: Denture detergents should have minimal side effects on the surface of the denture base to reduce the color and accumulation of plaque on the denture. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of denture detergents (2% hypochlorite and professional detergent pill) on denture surface color and surface Roughness. Method: In this experimental and laboratory study, 56 specimens (20 mm in diameter and 2 mm in thickness) were prepared from each of two types of acrylic resins (Acrosun of Iran and TDV DENTAL of Brazil). 2 %hypochlorite and professional detergent pills were used as a detergent. The specimens were divided into 7 groups and 8 samples were tested in each group. Experimental groups included group1(hypochlorite solution for 10 minutes), group2 (hypochlorite solution for8 hours), group3 (diluent solution for 8 hours), group 4 (tea solution for 2 hours), group5(first tea solution and then hypochlorite) and group 6 (tea solution and then cleansing pill) and group7(distilled water). surface Roughness indicators were measured (with the help of Ra and Rz indexes) and color changing (with the help of a *, b * and L * indices) before and after the experiment. Finally, statistical analysis was performed using SPSS 21 software and a significant level (P <0.05). Results: Comparison of Mean Index of Ra roughness showed that in group 6 (immersion in tea and then cleansing pill) it was more than other groups and in group 1 (immersion in hypochlorite) was lower than other groups and was statistically significant (6 P-Value = 0.02). The comparison of Rz indexes in the groups also showed this result, but it was not statistically significant (P value = 0.258). Acrylic resin of acrosun and TDV DENTAL had no significant difference in surface roughness after the performed tests. Comparison of the effect of different washing methods on acryl surfacing showed that there was no significant difference between the levels of Ra and Rz in each group (P value = 0.31). The results of the study showed a shift in comparison The mean of color variations in group 4 (tea solution) was more than other groups and in the control group (distilled water) was lower than other groups and this difference was significant between groups (P value = 0.00). In group 5 and 6 acrosun acrylic resin showed higher color variation than TDV DENTAL acrylic resin, but color variations were only significant in group 5 (P = 0.017). Conclusion: Hypochlorite solution has a decreasing effect on surface Roughness, but not long exposed to the sample.Acrylics that were exposed to tea showed a higher level of violence than acrylics that were not exposed to tea. Based on the results of this study, the recommended method for disinfection and removal of Acrylic stain of Hypochlorite solution is 2% for 10 minutes in a month. acrosun acrylic resins (Batadent Company of Iran) and Acril TDV (TDV DENTAL company of Brazilian) had no significant difference in surface roughness after the tests, but But in terms of the acrylic color stability, TDV DENTAL was better.
