Abstract
Background Candidiasis is one of the most prevalent and important opportunistic fungal infections of the oral cavity caused by candida yeast species like candida albicans, C. glabrata and C. krusei. In addition, several bacteria can cause oral infections. The aim of the present study is to evaluate the antifungal effect of effervescent tablets containing ginger in full dentures with oral fungal infections. Methods and Materials: In this experimental study, which was executed at the year of 2018, 27 acrilic dentures were contaminated with three spices of funguses like candida albicans, C. glabrata and C. krusei which were prepared in the pasture institute. For each fungus spices, we used a ginger boiling pill, 40 drops of nystatine, and distilled water. The groups were analyzed 30, 60 and 180 minutes after cultivation. Results: The results of this study showed that the average number of growing funguses in nystatine solution was lesser than ginger solution. An also, the anti-fungal effect of nystatine was starting earlier than giner which after 60 minutes the number of C. galbrata was zero, but the same results was observed in ginger after 180 minutes. Conclusion: The anti-fungal effect of nystatine was more effective than ginger tablet , and it’s effect was started earler than ginger.
