Diagnostic Value of Jolt Accentuation of headache for Diagnosis of Meningitis in Patients Referred to Emergency Department
Abstract
In this study we evaluated patients with headache and fever with suspicious meningitis and diagnostic value of this test and its sensitivity and specificity have been studied.
Patients and Methods
In this diagnostic cross-sectional study which have been conducted on 120 patients with suspicious meningitis referred to Emergency Department of Tabriz Imam Reza Hospital, lumbar puncture has performed after clinical evaluations. After definite diagnosis of meningitis based on LP report, Sensitivity, Specificity, Positive and Negative Predictive value and Positive and Negative likelihood ratio has been calculated.
Results
In this study 84.4% sensitivity, 64.4% specificity, 59.4% Positive Predictive Value and 87% Negative Predictive Value have been calculated for Jolt Accentuation of Headache. Also 2.37 and 0.24 positive and negative likelihood ratios have been calculated for this clinical test respectively.
