Comparison of the effect of education by social media with common approaches on the oral health status of patients who are candidates for implant treatment in 1397
Abstract
Background and goal: Health training is one of the important actions for prevention of the mouth and tooth diseases and promotion of health level in the society. This research aimed at comparative study of the impact of training by social media by common method on the mouth health condition in the patients who were candidate for implant treatment in 2018.
Materials and Methods: In this experiential research, 75 patients were chosen among the individuals referred to the private offices of the dentists in Tabriz who were specialist in implant. The patients were divided into five groups which four groups were control (1- individual training , 2-training as lecture, 3-training as video and 4-training as pamphlet) and a group as the case (training as one of the social media). The educational content was the same in all groups by this difference that the information in the case group was detailed and continuous in the group format proposed in one of the social media and in the control groups, training was done in general during a session. The plaque index of the patients before intervention, one week, one month and three months after training of moth health status was investigated and the changes was registered during the time mentioned in the form of this research. The results were analyzed via descriptive statistics and Kruskal and Mann Whitney test.
Findings: During three month, the level of plaque index was 93.0 in social media group and in the control groups was as follows: individual training53.0, lecture 32.0, video 44.0 and pamphlet 23.0. The reduction level was significantly high in social media group relative to control groups.
Conclusion: The impact of training in reduction of plaque index in short-term (one week) was seen in the control group and it was observed in social media group in long- term relative to other groups.
