Determine the prevalence of domestic violence against women in Tabriz city and the role of demographic factors

Abstract
Based on a general definition, violence means abusive behaviors that can occur in both personal and social domains. Therefore, it involves the experience of multiple forms of violence in the family environment, social and public space. However, findings from surveys and statistics reflected in the World Health Organization's special reports on violence against women and gender-based violence indicate that in most cases, women in the family, private and personal environment Physical, psychological and sexual harassment has been especially caused by their husbands. Every day we see numerous narratives of violent incidents caused by family disputes over women in the media, newspapers and various domestic and foreign journals interested in Iran's affairs. Considering the intervention of cultural structures and the evolution of different social changes of societies, the researchers in this research will try to determine the issue of violence against women in Iranian society and its determinants. Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted on women living in Tabriz. In this population-based study, cluster sampling, a sample of at least one thousand residents of urban and rural areas of Tabriz city was selected. Data including information about GHQ questionnaire and HITS violence questionnaire were collected through face-to-face, informed consent and face-to-face interviews and data were analyzed. Results: There was a significant relationship between the general score of violence and the presence of symptoms of anxiety, anxiety symptoms, social functioning and the presence of symptoms of depression (GHQ score greater than 6). There is also a significant relationship between drug intake and the presence of symptoms (GHQ score greater than 22). 23.8% of the cases of physical violence, 23.7% of the humiliation, 23.8% of the threats, 23.8% of the cases and 23.8% of the compulsion showed symptoms of the disorder in the overall health.
