Study and comparing of calcium and phosphorus hemostasis and disorders in patients with ESRD under hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis

Abstract
Renal replacement therapy is a general term about the various methods used in patients with end-stage renal failure including hemodialysis, Peritoneum dialysis, and kidney allograft transplantation. . Each type of treatment for patients with kidney failure has advantages and disadvantages. Peritoneum dialysis is associated with a number of metabolic, electrolyte, and biochemical disorders. Materials and Methods:In this descriptive cross-sectional study, 150 patients with ESRD referred to the dialysis department Imam Reza Hospital of Tabriz in the hemodialysis group and 150 patients with ESRD undergoing Peritoneum dialysis, who were selected randomly from dialysis subjects. The baseline data including calcium, phosphorus and iPTH levels collected from the tests performed before and after one year of dialysis collected and recorded in hemodialysis and Peritoneum dialysis in two groups and the results of the trials compared. Results: In hemodialysis, 33.1% of the patients were female and 66.9% were male. Sex distribution in Peritoneum dialysis patients was 47% males and 53% females. Comparing the patients undergoing hemodialysis and patients undergoing dialysis, the rate of iPTH in hemodialysis after one year of treatment was significantly higher than Peritoneum dialysis. Calcium levels are significantly higher in hemodialysis than Peritoneum dialysis. The levels of phosphorus and ca*pwere significantly higher in hemodialysis than in the Peritoneum dialysis. During hemodialysis, the iPTH level was 338.19% in the pretest, which increased to 371.7% in the post-test, but this increase was statistically significant. In addition, the calcium level in the pretest was 8.64, which increased to 8.92 in the post-test and this increase is statistically significant.
