Assessment of Disaster Preparedness and perception in Emergency department Nurses in Hospitals of Kerman and Tabriz University of Medical Sciences in 2017
Abstract
Introduction: On average, every week a disaster occurs at a point in the world and harmful effects on individuals, families and communities and a person or country is not protected from the consequences of disasters. Nurses compared to other health care professionals are more demanded at time of disasters. The purpose of this research was to investigate the disaster preparedness and perception in emergency nurses of Kerman and Tabriz.
Research Methods: This research is a descriptive cross sectional study. The statistic population of research consist nurses of emergency departments of educational hospitals in Kerman and Tabriz. Data collection instrument is included standard questionnaire of disaster preparedness, which consists of four sections: 1) Demographic characteristics and nursing experience 2) Disaster preparedness at work and the existence of a crisis management protocol in the hospital 3) The existence of public institutions or services for coping in critical situations 4) Materials and training needs for nurses. Data analysis included descriptive and inferential statistics, by SPSS software (package of Spss / pc + + ver21).
